Troubleshoot Web Browser Issues

If a web page is not performing as expected, the issue might be caused by your web browser, not the page or site, itself. Follow these steps to troubleshoot and solve most web browser issues.

Common browser-based issues:

  • Page does not load
  • You cannot log in to site
  • A script or action does not appear to execute
  • A form does not load

Steps

  1. Reload the website you’re working on.

  2. Clear your browser cache, then restart browser. (instructions can be found here)
Note: Clearing cache and cookies ensures you see the most recent version of the page.
  3. Modern web browsers often download web pages and store them on your computer in your cache or with the help of cookies. When you visit a web page again, the browser speeds up loading time by displaying the downloaded version from your computer, instead of downloading the entire page from the web again. This is great for speed and data, but sometimes, you’ll see an old version of a website. Clearing your cache and cookies will prevent this.
  4. Make sure cookies are enabled in your browser.
  5. To use plugins successfully, your web browser will need to accept “cookies” from websites. Cookies are a way for websites to remember who you are.
  6. Managing cookies

  7. Google Chrome (Recommended)
  8. Firefox
  9. Internet Explorer
  10. Safari
  11. Switch to a different browser. We recommend switching to Firefox or Chrome as they tend to be more reliable.
  12. If you have any ad-blockers, a firewall or antivirus software installed, try temporarily disabling those to see if that makes a difference.
  13. Reset the browser to its default settings. Essential information like bookmarks will be saved. Click on your browser below for a walk through tutorial.
  14. Restart your computer.
